Eugene Hoover is a husband, father, small business owner and an advocate for small businesses. He is a proud American and has also been a proud Nevadan for over 40 years.
Eugene started Silver State Couriers in 1991 with one employee… himself. He endured the Truckee River flood of 1997 and after many hardships has now elevated his small business with offices in Sparks and Las Vegas, Nevada.
As a small business owner, Eugene has had the opportunity to be a part of the National Federation for Independent Business and is the immediate past Nevada State Political Action Committee Chairman.
Eugene has written opinion articles for the Reno Gazette Journal including an article about the cons of extending the Sunset Taxes (SB 483) as proposed (and eventually passed) by the 2015 Nevada Legislature and a letter to our Nevada Congressmen about why “Nevada businesses can’t pay anymore” (September 24, 2015). From his March 2015 article asking our Nevada Legislature to not extend the Sunset Taxes, Eugene won the RGJ Silver Pen Award for his ‘‘quality of writing, clarity of expression and strength of opinion’’ (RGJ Editorial Board).
During the past 2015 Legislative session, Eugene testified against the largest tax increase in Nevada’s history and testified in favor of the small business over-time bill (SB 193).
Eugene is a member of the Washoe County GOP Central Committee, Reno Republican Men’s Club, Nevada Federation of Republican Women, Latin American Chamber of Business, and the Regents. In his off-time, Eugene likes to read, play football with his five children and go fishing.
